Manitoulin Island Travel Guide
Welcome to Manitoulin Island, ON!
The world's largest fresh water island, Manitoulin Island or 'Place of the Great Spirit', lures many to its seemingly endless shorelines. Let time gently flow like the great waters surrounding the island - Lake Huron to the west and the Georgian Bay to the east. With a vibrant native community and an interesting lineage from European settlers, Manitoulin Island offers an array of cultural attractions. The Holy Cross Mission and Ruins, located in Wikemikong, commemorates early Jesuit missions to the island, which began around 1648.
